As everyone says, this Is the worst microwave on that planet. Door switch had been broken forever, and it finally crapped out completely.

I was looking up troubleshooting guides and noticed all the reviews were the same, slam the door to get it to turn on. Microwave trips the breaker. I did have a Bosch tech do a repair on this already. Right now, totally dead. Thought maybe outlet was bad, but cleared that. Not sure it's worth it to repair. And it seems like customer service, from reading the reviews is really bad and I unhelpful. I have a Bosch dishwasher and oven too, that are fine. Just not sure what to do and find the same size one to fit in the space.

Poorly designed product. Horrible!

I rarely use this microwave yet I still have the same problems that many people have listed in the reviews. The door latch won't register the door as closed and it also won't open the door when pressed. I would like to see a suggestion from Bosch on how to fix this or at least a response saying they have fixed the issue in newer models that fit this built in shell. Very disspointed just as everyone else is.

The door doesn't close properly and hence would not turn on. Do not buy this product.

Like the vast, vast majority of reviewers about this microwave we have had the same problems. Quick summary -- Remodeled kitchen starting in mid 2010, purchased Bosch appliances Sept 2010 including combo wall micro / oven unit. Appliances installed and remodel complete early 2011. In Aug 2012 microwave stopped working after a few seconds and replaced magnatron at ~$300 parts & labor. Dec 2012 microwave stopped working again with same problem so replaced magnetron again (at no cost under warranty provided by very nice ethical repairman). Sept 2013 microwave stopped working again with same problem, ended up replacing microwave. So we've had the same unit since Sept 2013 through now Feb. 2021.....7 1/2 years so probably should be pretty satisfied. Yes, but for at least 2 years we've lived through the same issue with the door needing to be literally slammed and jiggled in order for the internal switches to make contact. It just keeps getting worse, so called the same repairman back who spent at least an hour trying to figure out how to align the door properly and secure the switch assembly so it would engage properly. No success. The switch assembly is attached to cheap, thin sheet metal that just flexes and bends, no bracing of any kind. Bosch should very well know this and redesign to strengthen this high use area, but they probably leave it as is so the "functional obselescence" is intentionally retained to drive replacement sales. Very shady business practice for what's supposed to be a premium line of appliances. At this point we're trying to find a replacement model since the HMB5050 is pretty hard to find. Hate to buy another Bosch microwave, but not sure what other choice I have. Will definitely not buy a complete Bosch appliance package again.
